A visit for families
“Saturday of the little filous” is a workshop for children aged 4 to 6, offered by Soierie Vivante. Little ones are welcomed at the trimmings workshop, the former home workshop of Henriette Letourneau, nestled on the 1st floor of a Canut building.
Well seated on cushions, the children listen to the legend of silk, the metamorphoses of the silkworm, touch the materials, and try their hand at weaving on the mini looms of the older children (a simple weaving technique is carried out) . They discover cocoons, threads, spools, and silk fabrics.
Then, the workshop's “large looms” are operated in front of the children for a sound demonstration! Each little trickster leaves with a surprise bag, and stories to share with their parents!

For nursery school children: discovering silk and materials
Soierie Vivante welcomes nursery classes, with an educational visit adapted around the theme of the silkworm, including numerous manipulations. Children touch cocoons, threads, spools, and silk fabrics. A simple weaving technique is carried out to understand how the threads intertwine and make up a fabric.
Then, the “big looms” of trimmings are operated in front of the children for a sound demonstration! A surprise awaits them at the end of the visit!
Complete educational tools
The association provides teachers with an educational kit containing technical sheets, cocoons, spools, fabric samples, shuttles, Jacquard cardboard, etc. You will be able to prepare your visit in a fun way.
